#NOIAugust2016 Day 1 — Rainbow Nails

This month I thought I would post some of my nail art for August 2016’s Nails Of Instagram Challenge (and possibly some from other nail art challenges). This is my first month doing this particular challenge. I’m up for it! Hopefully I won’t miss any prompts.

The prompt for day one (August 1st) is rainbow. I’ve done quite a few rainbow-esque manicures over the past year and I really wanted to do something different from the usual rainbow gradient for the challenge. In the end, that’s exactly what I did (ha) but I added some spank with a coat of Sally Hansen’s Big Crackle Top Coat in the shade Black On.

They turned out so funky! It was probably the best gradient I’ve ever done (I could chalk that up to taking my time for once).

Method

To protect my skin from nail polish gone rogue I used the I Peel Good liquid latex from Sweet & Sour Lacquer (in the scent coconut — yum!). So the colors would pop more, I used two coats of Sally Hansen X-treme Wear in the shade White On for the base and then went in with a sponge and various colorful polishes for the rainbow gradient effect. I did three coats of gradient and sealed it all in with Pure Ice Girl on the Run Quick Dry Top Coat (to further soften the gradient effect). Last but not least, one thick coat of Sally Hansen Big Crackle Base Coat and my mani was good to go!

Are you doing any nail art challenges on Instagram this month? If so, which ones?

Thanks for stopping by, guys! Until next time!
